TVCOG Manifesto

At Tech Valley Center of Gravity’s core is the makerspace. This light-filled and flexible facility is designed to welcome makers and doers of every stripe with an abundance of workshops, work stations, tools and collaboration spaces. From metal shop to conference room; 3-D printing zone to woodshop; kitchen to fiber arts; laser etching to electronics; community room to consultation corners: every zone and its equipment is designed to promote collaboration, boost creative confidence and spark creativity. THINQubator, our children’s makerspace, ensures that we engage new generations of makers and doers in creative expression/idea development within science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

While the facility is the core, the community is TVCOG’s heart. We nurture a culture of inclusivity to enhance innovation among our community of enthusiasts, entrepreneurs and professionals of many ages, genders, ethnicities, interests, nationalities, life experiences and educational backgrounds. Courses, workshops, lectures, and social events that are open to the public continually broaden our membership. Scholarships, internships, a volunteer program, and affordable membership packages ensure economic diversity as well. For members launching entrepreneurial ventures, we offer access to expertise in start-up development. Partnerships with universities and the state, and within the local business, arts, civic, and human service communities, bring Tech Valley Center of Gravity’s value to others, allowing us to serve as a model of how a non-profit makerspace can nurture its members’ economic and personal growth and benefit its host community.
