Never used power tools? You're not alone. Our Quick Start Guide class series helps beginners understand and use the basic equipment in our work zones. 

Quick Start Guide 7: Metalworking Lathe

The metalworking lathe can be used to accurately cut and shape round pieces of metal. This class will introduce participants to the capabilities of the metal lathe available here at the COG, and will provide a demonstration of proper machine use. The demonstration will cover topics such as facing, turning, drilling, knurling, threading and parting. This class will be taught by Alex Titcomb, our Volunteer Metal Shop Coordinator.

Class Fee: $35  CoG Members | $40 Non-Members


No previous experience necesary. All materials included. Participants must be 16 or older (under 18 accompanied by a guardian). 

Advanced registration for all classes in this series closes 1 hour before the workshop begins. There is no late registration fee, but classes without sufficient advanced enrollment may be canceled. Drop-ins are welcome, but are encouraged to check the event page or call 30 minutes before the class start time, to ensure that the class is still taking place.

Discounts will be automatically applied to current COG members.
