This beginner-level class covers basic sewing techniques including pattern cutting, using a sewing machine and sewing basic seams. Participants will assemble their own tote bag to take home! This class serves as an introduction to using the sewing machines available here at the CoG, as well as being an introductory course for sewing in general. Participants may bring their own sewing machine if preferred.

No previous sewing experience is necessary. We do have fabric available for your use, but supply is limited. Feel free to bring your own fabric to the class if you want a particular color or pattern for your tote. All other materials provided.

Your Instructor: Taught by Sarah Collen of the Troy Sew Shop, which offers workshops and services that provide sewing knowledge,  leading to empowering people with self-reliance, while focusing on mindful and environmentally-friendly practices. Scheduling: This is a custom-scheduled, one-on-one class with an experienced instructor. It will take 2 hours to complete. After purchase, you will receive contact info for the instructor. Let the instructor know your availability, and coordinate a time to complete the class. The instructor is typically available nights and weekends.   

All materials included. Participants must be 16 or older. Discounts will be automatically applied to current COG members during the registration process.
