13 Years of TVCOG

February 9th is TVCOG’s 13th anniversary! We want to express our gratitude to our founding members and investors for their vision and work bringing TVCOG to life. We also want to extend a thank you to our wonderful members for being such an integral part of our creative and, most importantly, collaborative community. And to all of the people that support TVCOG’s mission, even in the smallest of ways, we see the impact of your actions every day. We wouldn’t have been here all these years without you!

We're celebrating in the only way we know how - building Lego robots. Join us on Tuesday, February 10 at 6 PM for Social Night, honoring the spirit of TVCOG with a relaxed, welcoming gathering. Enjoy food, soft drinks, and friendly Lego Robotics challenges while connecting with fellow makers. All are welcome—come for the fun, stay for the connections!

Our Digital Fabrication for Artists End-of-Residency Review

Last fall marked the start of our Digital Fabrication for Artists residency. Two residents, Giselle Lora and Tyna Ontko, began learning various digital fabrication techniques to incorporate into their artistic process.

These classes included things like 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC routing, and, as part of our commitment to reducing barriers to making, they were all offered for free. With their given materials stipend, Giselle and Tyna used their newfound digital fabrication knowledge to make a piece to display at Troy’s Annual Victorian Stroll. During Giselle’s residency journey, she really challenged herself and broadened her artistic horizons using our 3D scanner and printers. Tyna also challenged herself, and ended up falling in love with our CNC machine. You can learn more about their projects and experiences by watching the videos below.

This Residency was made possible through support of the Arts Center of the Capital Region’s Arts Thrive and Grow grant program, Launchbox, Collar Works, and the T Backer Memorial Foundation. Thank you for giving our residents the opportunity to grow and to learn digital fabrication techniques to add to their artistic processes.

Arts Thrive and Grow has been funded by New York State, Kathy Hochul, Governor. We thank Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins for her extraordinary commitment and leadership, and our elected officials who represent our grantmaking region: Senators Jake Ashby and Neil D. Breslin; Assemblymembers Scott H. Bendett, Patricia Fahy, John T. McDonald III, Angelo Santabarbara, Phil Steck, and Mary Beth Walsh.

Launchbox provides individual warehouse and work suites from 150 to 1,000 square feet. For no extra charge, Launchbox members also enjoy access to support spaces and amenities including a three-bay loading dock, material handling equipment, photo studio, coworking cafe, meeting rooms, redundant high-speed Internet and more. The facility is fully climate controlled and accessible 24/7.
