Tech Valley Center of Gravity and our THINQubator welcome groups of all ages and sizes for tours and/or facilitiated activities. While THINQubator activities are our most popular field trip, we also can and do provide age-appropriate STEM-related activities for groups of teens and adults. We tailor each event to the needs of the group, depending on size, time alotted, desired learning goals, age and/or ability, etc. Therefore, we do not publish a fee schedule. Here are just a few examples of group activities we provide:

  • Make Your Own Zoetrope -- create a "prehistoric" film and learn a bit about how modern animation works
  • Make a "Robot" Hand -- use yarn, straws and a paper cutout of your own hand to create a moving paper hand and see how a real robot hand might mimic how a human hand functions
  • Pixel Art with Pearler Beads -- discover how graphics are made on a screen with tiny blocks called "pixels", learn about binary code, and create your own "pixel" art piece
  • Circuit Copters -- using paper, conductive tape and tiny LEDs, make a spinning light up copter
  • Noodle Doodle Bots -- learn a little about how electric motors run and hook up a simple one inside a piece of pool noodle to create a dancing drawing "robot"
  • Make an LED Flashlight -- learn how to make a circuit with a switch that allows you to turn your own paper flashlight on and off
  • Kitchen Slime Science: Make magnetic slime and squishy circuits
