Tech Valley Center of Gravity is thrilled to participate in the 42nd annual Troy Victorian Stroll on Sunday, December 8 from 11am-5pm. This community event is an amazing chance to see what the whole of Downtown Troy can offer, so be sure to check out all the other event offerings available that day on the official Stroll website. 

From a Maker's Market to children's activities to shop demonstrations, TVCOG has something interesting for everyone going on during the Stroll. Here's what you can look forward to:

Open House,Tours & Demonstrations 

TVCOG is open for self-guided tours during the Stroll. This open house event allows visitors to check out our space and all our work zones on both levels of the facility. Along the way, you'll find demonstrations and featured projects from members that show off some of the amazing things that were made here. 

Featured demonstrations include:

  • A robotic arm creating ceramic architectural facades with MetaOrnate
  •  Wood turning and woodworking techniques with Grieco Woodworking
  • Loom weaving with volunteer Heather O.
  • Glass engraving with volunteer Steve N.
  • 3D-printing with volunteer Ryan M.

FREE Family STEAM Workshop- LED Snowflakes! With International Chevron Fab STEM Fellow Ilyes Tlili

Family_STEAM_DAY-_Web_page_photos_2.pngChildren ages 4-12 and their families are invited to join us for a free, fun, hands-on project exploring science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics! through hands-on projects. This event is a special, pop-up version of our regular monthly STEAM-Powered Saturday event, which takes place from 10am-1pm on the first Saturday of each month. 

This year, we're putting a Makerspace twist on the classic paper snowflakes. Join us anytime 11am-5pm for an LED Snowflake workshop, where you'll use LEDs and special conductive materials to create paper snowflakes that light up! 

Recommended for children ages 4+, but all ages are welcome. Parents/guardians are expected to stay with children at all times during the workshop and actively participate.

This event will be co-hosted by Chevron Fab STEM Fellow Ilyes Tlili of Mahdia, Tunisia.Tlili joins TVCOG as part of a yearlong fellowship designed to foster innovative and inclusive STEM education practices worldwide.

Maker's Market

The first floor of TVCOG will be taken over by a Maker's Market, a holiday market featuring exclusively handmade items.

Meet our Resident Makers! 

The Stroll also serves as the final event for our Digital Fabrication for Artists Program Residents, Mariah Kitner and Kate Kosek, who have just finished an intensive 6-month program. They will debut their final art installations and be available to chat about their art and their residency.
